Knee Captured

A drawn study of my own leg, tracing the defined contours of the thigh, knee, and calf.

A tall, narrow drawing of Rob's leg on white paper, with fine contour lines and loose hatching defining the thigh, knee, and calf.

About the work

An available subject, conveniently attached: my own leg.

This drawing follows the definition of the thigh down through the knee and into the calf. Long contour lines establish the shape, while loose, layered strokes pick out the muscles and the shadows around the joint.

The narrow composition keeps the focus on that connected stretch of anatomy—a small study in looking closely at something familiar.
